What to expect at your first your first Bronzed Tanning Appointment
For your first appointment I allow time to meet and get to know you. We’ll discuss your skin and tanning requirements - your desired tan colour and event you maybe tanning for.
We look at your underlying skin tone to pick the the perfect base tone and then understand how your skin reacts to the sun to pick the best percentage of DHA to use on you to achieve the desired end result you want.
Then we’ll discuss what you might like to wear while tanning. We supply all disposable underwear including g-string, briefs, bralette, boxers, a hairnet and hair ties. Of course you are welcome to wear your own underwear or bikini.
We’ll walk you through the tanning positions and guide you through these as we tan. During this process we’ll discuss aftercare.
We always finish by air drying and a beautiful finishing powder which sets the tan and eliminates any sticky feeling, and of course finish with blending of the wrists hands ankles and feet.
We except eftpos, online banking and cash.
And of course most importantly we want you to enjoy your experience and make you feel as comfortable as possible.

Preparing for your Spray Tan
Achieving a flawless, sun-kissed glow depends as much on what you do at home as it does on the application itself. Follow these essential steps to ensure a seamless result and a long-lasting tan.
1. Timing Your Shaving and Waxing
Avoid shaving or waxing on the actual day of your appointment. Spray tan solution contains bronzer that can settle into newly opened pores, resulting in a "spotted" appearance. For the best results, finish all hair removal one to two days before your session to allow your skin to settle.
2. The Art of Exfoliation
Exfoliation is the most critical step in your preparation. Because tanning solution only affects the top layer of dead skin cells, a thick layer of dry skin will cause your tan to fade prematurely and unevenly.
Method: Use a high-quality exfoliating glove the day before (not the day of) your tan.
Caution: Avoid heavy oil-based soaps or moisturisers during this process, as they leave a film that acts as a barrier, preventing the tan from soaking in.
Recommendation: We have several products in studio like the Black Magic Tan Removal Mousse and Exfoliating Mitt that we can recommend for regular tanners to ensure a fresh base.
3. Avoid Chemical Exfoliants
Stop using chemical exfoliants (such as AHAs or BHAs) at least one week before your appointment. These products continue to dissolve skin cell bonds long after application, which can cause your new tan to become patchy or "crack" prematurely.
4. Arrive with "Naked" Skin
On the day of your appointment, do not apply deodorant, moisturiser, or makeup.
Deodorant is a common culprit for white or green patches under the arms.
Moisturisers and cosmetics create an invisible shield that blocks the tanning solution from developing properly.
5. Post-Session Wardrobe & Tan Development
Clothing: Wear the loosest clothing and shoes possible after your tan to prevent friction marks and the tan rubbing off. Ladies - skip the bra and keep that handbag off your shoulders whilst the tan develops.
Avoid water: After your spray tan session try to avoid any activities that involve sweating, or submersion in water, as these will cause your tan to fade quicker.
Rinse Time - rapid tan rinse times from a little as 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on choice of spray tan used on the day. To be discussed during consultation.
Weather Watch: If it is raining, you must be covered from head to toe with an umbrella in hand. Water droplets will ruin a developing tan instantly!
Maintaining your Tan
Caring for your spray tan involves keeping it moisturised, and using specialised products to extend it’s life.
1. Hydration is Key
The secret to a long-lasting tan is moisture. From the day after your session, moisturise morning and night to keep skin cells "plastered" to your body. Ensure your lotions are oil-free, as oils break down the tanning agent (DHA) and cause a cracked appearance. We recommend Black Magic Tan’s Nourish Moisturiser with SPF 15.
2. Avoid these activities
Hot showers, baths, steam rooms, and saunas
Swimming in chlorinated pools or saltwater
Excessive sweating from intense exercise
The spray tan has a tendency to come off first from places that are used the most, like hands, feet and face (lots of face cosmetics have exfoliating qualities). If you wear tight clothing like jeans, you might find that your legs get lighter in some places (tops of your thighs) first.
3. Use gentle cleansing practices
Use mild, sulfate-free body washes.
Avoid exfoliating ingredients like:
Salicylic Acid (BHA)
Lactic Acid
Glycolic Acid (AHA)
Retinol
Benzoyl Peroxide
Pat skin dry after bathing; avoid rubbing vigorously with a towel.
Avoid products containing:
Mineral oil
Petroleum
High levels of alcohol
4. Extending the Life of Your Glow
Tans naturally fade faster in high-friction areas like the hands, feet, face, and inner thighs.
Pro-Tip: Use a gradual tanner or a moisturizer containing a small amount of DHA to touch up these areas and maintain depth.
Recommendation: Visage Facial Tanner and Tan X-Tend by Black Magic are two products we recommend to extend the life of your spray tan while nourishing your skin with these home care essentials. Available in Studio.
5. Start Fresh Every Time
For a truly flawless result, never layer a new spray tan over an old one. We highly recommend completely removing any remaining tan before your next appointment to ensure you have the perfect, even base for your new glow.
